Extracts from the Josiah Harmar papers, May 11, 1787 to July 7, 1793 : typescript copy, copied 20th century.

Contains copies of parts of Harmar's papers not found in his journals in the Draper Manuscripts held at the Wisconsin Historical Society, specifically from his journal and letters covering his time in Vincennes as Commander in Chief of the U.S. Army in the West. In particular covers references to Fort Knox -- the location and conditions; life and conditions in Vincennes; and other items of interest to the copiest. Encounters with the local tribes are not covered fully but references to the Native American's in the area are made.
